What is AcroYoga?

AcroYoga blends the wisdom of yoga, the dynamic power of acrobatics, and the loving kindness of healing arts in a beautiful, safe environment to play in. These three lineages form the foundation of a practice that cultivates trust, playfulness, and community.



AcroYoga has 3 main elements:

  • Solar Acrobatic Practices that cultivate trust, empowerment and joy.
  • Lunar Healing Arts Practices that cultivate listening, loving and letting go.
  • Yogic Practices that cultivate breathe awareness, life balance and connection.

The Solar elements are where we find our power. We tune into that inner voice, the trust within ourselves that knows we are capable of great things when we set our minds to achieving our goals. It is with that trust that we become empowered and empower others.

We build the strength of our bodies as we also build the strength within our minds. We practice teamwork as we work together in partner conditioning drills and inversions that become the building blocks to high flying spinning fun! We learn how to coach one another and offer positive encouragement as we grow together as a community. We teach effective spotting to ensure that we are comfortable stepping into higher level of acrobatics in a safe atmosphere.


Partner Acrobatics is where we put it all together in a group of 3: Base, Flyer & Spotter. The base is the foundation, the flyer takes flight into the air and the spotter is our safety net of joy! Together we make quite a team as we play, dance, spin, pop and float through endless AcroYoga transitions!! Only as a community can we realize our true potential.

The Lunar elements are where we learn how to slow down, breathe and listen. We become more sensitive as we attune our bodies to work together with gravity to release tension, stress, busy minds and sore bodies.

Our Lunar practice focuses on Thai healing arts, therapeutic flying and partner yoga.

Through healing arts we learn “Metta”- loving kindness, healing touch and mindfulness. We will teach you how to offer Thai bodywork to both the flyer and the base.

Therapeutic flying can also be viewed as an inverted aerial massage. The flyer remains passive as the base uses gravity to stretch and open the flyers upper body. When the “flight” is over the flyer offers “leg love” to the base, rewarding and thanking them for their healing touch. It is a beautiful exchange of giving and receiving, and a deep practice of surrender.

mema1The partner yoga aspect is the art of using each others bodyweight to counterbalance, open and stretch each other’s bodies. Partner yoga is mostly done seated and standing on the ground to prepare and open up the body for therapeutic inversions and flights. We always give the body the time it needs to open slowly, safely and with patience.

Yoga is the glue between the Solar and the Lunar Practices. It is a physical practice as well as a spiritual practice where we take the time to tap into ourselves and connect to our inner beings through postures, breathing exercises, mantras and daily rituals. Having a connection to a solo practice will take your AcroYoga practice to new heights, for it is the foundation of what we bring to the table as we learn to work with partners. Yoga offers us the wisdom of dedication, devotion, and self-love.
