Robin was introduced to yoga in the late 1970′s, when as an unruly teen she would sprawl on the living room floor pretzeling along with Lilias: Yoga and You on PBS. She began formally studying it in drama conservatory in New York in the 80′s as an integral part of learning to focus and relax onstage.
Since then, yoga has been a daily part of her life as an actor, writer and mother. She studied extensively at the Sivananda Ashrams in NY and Bahamas, with Mati Ezrata, Shiva Rea and Seane Corn at YogaWorks.
She fell in love with the amazing benefits of Kundalini during her first pregnancy, studying with Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa for many years.
She is a devoted student of Kundalini Master, Guru Singh, as well as Buddhist monk, Rev. Hye Wol Sunim, who lived with her family for three years. However, her greatest and most profound teachers are her beautiful sons, 13 year old Duncan and 16 year old Mr.Dr.Prof. Logan John McAlpine Sennett LLC, PHD ©™® (he made me write that)
As I move through phases of my physical, emotional and spiritual life, my yoga needs changed. The yoga I did in my early 30′s didn’t work for me in my 40′s when I had my children! I opened Shakti House in order to create a beautiful, peaceful studio where a mix of styles and levels are readily available, so that students will have a place to call home as their bodies grow, mellow, or strengthen.
I hope you love Shakti House as much as I do.
