Absolute Beginner Bellydance 4 Week Series
This Beginner Series is designed for students new to bellydance or those seeking a bellydance refresher. Dancers with little to no dance experience are welcome. Each week students will move through a warm up, drills, technique and a combination designed to build a strong foundation of the dance. Bellydance is a fun and challenging workout, can help develop greater body awareness and core strength, and also offers students a chance to move creatively, while increasing confidence and connecting with other women in a supportive space.
MEET ALEXIS: “My lifelong passion for dance started at age four at my local dance studio, and has grown into something unexpected, yet without a doubt, perfectly suited to me. After years of studying ballet, jazz, tap, and modern dance I had the opportunity to teach at my local studio, and from there, quickly realized my enthusiasm and draw towards sharing this art form with others. I continued to study in college, minoring in dance, studying aerial dance, and performing with the UNH Dance Company. It was this time that I also started my yoga practice, and has since completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training and kids yoga training. After relocating to Portland, I started training with Adriana Sarasvati in Egyptian bellydance, and joined her company, Sundari Dance Company. Following a knee injury and and a year of not dancing, this subtle and more gentle way of moving naturally resonated with me, and I was immediately hooked! Now a lead dancer in Sundari Dance Company, I assist with choreography and in training the new members, and perform regularly in the Portland area. I am dedicated to, and look forward to continuing my studies of bellydance, and other dance forms, and sharing this beautiful dance with others.”

If you are a current Shakti House student with a CLASS CARD you are welcome to attend ONE class during the Winter Series using your class card! Then, if you are interested you can sign up for the Spring Series!
If you would like to do this, please just show up for class on the day you would like to attend. No need to pre-register.
